Unwind With Art - Watercolor
Monoprints
September 5 and 6, 9 AM - 1 PM
Tuition: Members - $120 Non-members - $145 All
levels
Are you feeling like this left-brained
world is stressing you out and you need to use
your creative side? Unwind, live in the moment,
and have fun by learning new drawing, painting,
and mixed media ideas and techniques while instructor
Mary Telfer Holden (www.telfleur.com) offers guidance
and suggestions. All skill levels are welcome.
Day one we will use watercolors painted on glass
to make mono-prints. Be warned that this can be
addicting! After two hours we’ll take a
break (feel free to bring a snack). We’ll
then experiment with droppers, funny brushes,
and sponges that will be available for your use.
On day two bring your paintings from day one with
you. We’ll use pastels colored pencils,
and ink to enhance our paintings, while learning
techniques such as scumbling, cross-hatching and
more. The camaraderie of the class offers a unique
opportunity to bring your art to a higher level
by brainstorming with each other in a relaxed,
fun environment.
Students will learn: Watercolor mono-print technique
enhanced to create several mixed media pieces.
Students should bring: Everything will be supplied
so there is no need to bring anything, but if
you have any watercolor paper or card stock go
ahead and bring them.
Watercolors and pastels will be provided by the
Richeson Company.
Realistic Animal Portraits in Pastel
Thursday Sept 4th 9 AM - 1 PM
Tuition Members - $60 Non-members - $85
You don't have to be a professional artist to
live in the moment, and have fun by learning about
pastels: how to paint with them, get details,
and create a one-of-a-kind portrait of an animal
you love. There's nothing like the clear, immediate
color you get in one stroke of a soft pastel.
I will have plenty of photos to work from, but
if you have a photo of an animal or pet you'd
like to paint, bring it to this class. We’ll
begin by choosing the best photos to work from,
sketching in the basic features, and then begin
to use the pastels. After two hours we’ll
take a break (feel free to bring a snack!). We'll
be working with the highest quality Unison pastels
and pastel paper provided by the Richeson Company
of Kimberly, Wisconsin . See samples of my animal
pastels on my website: www.telfleur.com <http://www.telfleur.com>.
All skill levels are welcome.
Students will learn: A better understanding of
soft pastels and a finished portrait of an animal.
Students should bring: A sketchbook or paper
to do beginning sketches, some tortillons (also
called blending stumps used for pastels), and
a photo of an animal you’d like to draw.

This class is designed to help you to formulate
a plan to take your art out of your studio and
sell it, whether you are a beginner or a professional
artist. You'll be given a short survey the first
day of class to see where you are right now. Are
you a beginner? Do you have a body of work and
are ready to sell? Or are you ready to take your
sales or art in a new direction? On the first
day bring some samples/photos of your work, a
notebook, and a pen. Each week we'll discuss different
avenues of sales, what has worked/not worked for
the instructor (or other artists) (www.telfleur.com)
and discuss/brainstorm fresh ideas with each other.
Feel free to contact Mary before the class with
questions: mary@telfleur.com.

the simplicity of working with a dry medium. Create

stump to create detail, composition, and more.
We'll also spend a class or two using oil pastels.
The first day of class bring some pastel paper
or surface to work on. Bring your own pastels
or sample the available Unison pastels - we'll
discuss various brands and their differences.
Feel free to email the instructor with any questions
